first things first, it was so refreshing to read some thing that was not in the form of an essay. I’ve been getting really into the essays, but this was just such a nice change. Not only that, but reading about the theater and the players in the format of a play was really fun!

I also really appreciated the content. I feel like we’ve talked about so many of these concepts, and seeing them all gather together in the ultimate interview with the Director was very nice. Like, when they talk about how we should ignore stage directions, or the discussion of the footlights these are things I’ve thought about, or learned what to do with, but I have never understood the history. I also absolutely loved hearing about how much Gordon Craig believed that we should be Masters of all the arts in the theater. I feel myself drawn to so many different mediums, and the dream is to connect them all through my work. I love to have a variety of tools. That’s why I pick up new instruments all the time or go to workshops about things I don’t know, because it feels like there is room for all of it in the theater. I just saw a learning trumpet this week, and one day it will be in a play.

I want to hear more about his theory about actors, I know that he had backlash for thinking actors were necessary (or some thing) but we didn’t get too much into it here. He vaguely touched on it with the puppets, so I’d love to hear more about that.

I also enjoyed his thoughts and want me to the Director and actor to be different people. It’s again one of those things that I’ve heard many times but it’s nice to know this source where it originated or at least get closer to the origin.

he seems to be a very territorial creator as well, which I go back-and-forth on. I think I came into the school with the attitude of let’s just get into room and make things, and no one will have to be the leader over anyone else, but like, and Bogart says, violence is necessary, and one person being violent has proved to be very successful. I also am finding that I like being the one who is violent when we are just creating some thing. I’ll do this as an excuse to put my dreams on stage that’s why I do art.

I’m very excited about the reform of the theater has an instrument, and I am that person, that theater maker of the future, who will create a new form.
